Sergey Aleksandrovich Zhebelev (1867–1941)-professor of Leningrad University, a classic philologist, specialist in the field of archeology, ancient history and epigraphy, academician of the USSR Academy of Sciences (1927). His book considers the issue of studying the gospels of both canonical and apocryphal. The content and form of the gospels are important, the point of view from which they are considered, including historical and literary, also raises the issue of authorship and sources. The gospels are compared and compared, characteristic features and features are distinguished in them.
