Pyotr Alekseevich Shiryaev (1886–1935) - writer and translator, participant in the 1905 revolution. His works are characterized by the accuracy of the description, acute observation, and successfully inscribed details give his household paintings a kind of truthfulness. “The grandson of Taloni” (1930) is a wonderful head of the Russian literary “Horse History”, which describes the life of the hippodrome and horse factories.

This story, continuing the traditions of Holstomer and Emerald, is the most famous of the works of Pyotr Shiryaev, in which he reached high compositional technology, artistic richness and drama. Based on the “grandson of Taloni”, the films “Rysak” and “Lyubushka” were shot.
