The haze lays on the old steps. Chudakov A.
The novel “Lies the haze on the old steps”, recognized as the best work of the 2000s (Russian Booker of the Decade, 2011), is based on the author’s family history. Alexander Pavlovich Chudakov, one of the largest Russian philologists of the 20th century, grew up in an intelligent family, by the will of fate abandoned to the ends of the world - to Schuchinsk, the city of exiled on the border of Russia and Kazakhstan.
In the harsh post -war years, in the conditions of a constant threat of new repressions and the lack of the most necessary, the main character’s family managed not only to survive: like new Robinsons, these people restore lost civilization. Despite everything, they managed not to embitger and remain loyalty to their origins.
