This publication was compiled by the “Assembly of Letters Blessed Memory of the Optina Elder Makarii”, in six volumes, the inhabitant of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra Archimandrite John (Zakharchenko). It has absorbed bit by bit all the most valuable, most important, contained in the elder’s letters, and will help each Christian put the beginning of the active fulfillment of the instructions and covenants of the Monk Makarii, for “paternal scriptures are read by deeds”.
