The historical roots of a fairy tale. Propp V.
Vladimir Yakovlevich PrPP is an outstanding domestic philologist, one of the founders of the structural and typological approach in folklore, which later received wide application in literary criticism. His works on the study of folklore (“Morphology of the Tale”, “The Historical Roots of the Fairy Tale”, “Russian Heroic Epos”, “Russian Agrarian Feasts”, etc.) were included in the Golden Fund of World Science of the twentieth century.
The book “Historical Roots of a Fairy Tale” is devoted to the problem of the sources of one of the folklore genres: the scientist addresses ancient mythology and ritual practice - the rituals of initiation. At the same time, unusually wide coverage of cultural material is combined with the depth of its understanding and the availability of presentation. In 1946, when the book saw the light, V. Ya. Propp was accused of anti -Marxism, “the perversion and falsification of the true picture of public relations” and then for many years did not actually have the opportunity to print. Today, this book, ahead of its time, can be called among the most popular humanitarian research, and a fairy tale is invariably associated with the name of V. Ya. Proppa.
