The history of Holy Rus'. Dore G.
Paul Gustav Dore (1832-1883), the Wunderkind artist and the most famous book schedule of the 19th century, did not immediately began to create magnificent multi-figure compositions.
He began-eight years old! - From what we would now call comics, and continued (in 1854) - an innovative graphic novel.
Dore always respected political events - at all times it was the easiest way to become a celebrity. The History of Holy Rus' became the reaction of a true Frenchman to the Crimean war, in which Russia was on the other side of the barricades.
So it turned out a holistic satirical story, fantastic and extremely caustic. Dorea built from xylography and the text not an album, but a visual story - having overtaken the time for almost a hundred years.
This book was not lucky. Barely published, she was quietly removed from shops (politics changed); Then they pretended that she was not at all; The German edition of 1937 was arrested. It is not surprising that it has never been published in Russia before - and here in your hands the first publication in 150 years.
