The textbook is intended for undergraduates of full -time and correspondence forms of training in the specialty "Linguistics". Profiles: “Translation and translation studies”, “Foreign language teacher”, “linguist-expert”. The main goal of the textbook is to access the most urgent and complex problems of theoretical and applied linguistics, necessary for magizer students, future specialists in one of the most complex areas of humanitarian knowledge-linguistics.
The first part of the manual presents the theoretical directions of linguistics as science, starting from its origins, in the presentation of prominent theorists of the language (V. von Humboldt, Mladigrams, I. A. Boduen de Kurtene, F. de Saussure and others.).
The second part contains lecture material on the analysis of the problems of the current state of the language, the causes and mechanism of its changes, language contacts, the relationship between language and writing, the basics of linguisticstatistics.
The glossary, which contains the concepts and terms used in the text, is possibly unfamiliar to the reader. The authors of the manual express the hope that theoretical and applied aspects of linguistics that are reflected on its pages will cause interest among students and will contribute to the solution of their professional tasks to complete the training in the magistracy.
