This publication is the first of three books of a teaching aid on the history of medicine. The authors are supporters of a systematic approach to teaching the course “History of Medicine” and proceed from an understanding of this discipline as part of the general history and philosophy of science. The methodological approach is based on the concept of interdisciplinary and taking into account the modern requirements of the educational environment to the academic discipline.

The first book sets out methodological approaches to teaching the course “History of medicine” using modern pedagogical technologies that contribute to the formation of professional competencies and learning skills of scientific -research activities among students of medical universities. The history of medicine is considered as a field of science and academic discipline designed to ensure the formation of the basics of clinical thinking among future doctors. The main types of students' independent work at this rate are presented in detail, special attention is paid to the role of historical and archival work in the development of the discipline “History of Medicine”. The applications give both samples of the types of individual works and instructions for completing tasks proposed according to the educational plan in the second book of the training manual, the third book contains an original selection of fragments of texts of sources on the history of medicine. The material presented in the first book of this textbook will allow teachers to successfully conduct classes on the history of medicine, and students will qualitatively prepare for them.
