The holder of the sign. Chudinova E.P.
The novel is dedicated to the most tragic period of our history - revolution and the Civil War. In the center of the narrative are the heroes of the White movement, the generation of the peers of the century, who went into the volunteer army with a gymnasium bench. Each of them chooses its own path, martyrdom and at the same time tragically beautiful - between honor and dishonor, fidelity and betrayal, sacrifice and treason, the salvation of Russia and a fall into the abyss of chaos and devastation.
The novel has many secrets and riddles that are associated with the ancient Egyptian Christian talisman received by the main character, 17-year-old warrant officer Sergei Rzhevsky, on the forefront from his older brother. The plot circles diverge from the talisman, as if from a stone abandoned into the water, connecting various times and events of the novel: the life of the St. Petersburg bohemia and the advance of the Army of General Yudenich on Petrograd, the mystery of Ancient Egypt and the raids of the Vikings, the intrigues of the Masonic lodges of the XVIII century and the camp stages of the Turukhansky region , the struggle of the counter -revolutionary underground and the Paris everyday life of Russian emigration.
Among the characters of the novel are historical faces: Archbishop-surgeon Luke (V.F. Voyno-Yasenetsky), Egyptologist V. S. Golenishchev, Psychiatrist N.V. Dal, poet N. S. Gumilyov and others.
