The human body in the light of the Orthodox creed. Larshe J.K.

The French Orthodox theologian, well-known to the Russian reader, Jean-Claude Larche proposes to comprehend the problem of the human body, its features, content and purpose, based on Christian anthropology and asceticism, based on the Holy Scriptures and the teachings of the Church fathers. The human person is the indissoluble unity of the soul and body, endowed with all its spiritual qualities. While Western civilization increasingly reduces the role of the body to the instrument of receiving pleasure, the author considers it in the context of the divine plan, starting from the creation of man in the image of God, continuing the salvation and healing of his incarnated Son of God and ending with the prospect of resurrection and eternal life.
