Princess Maria Klavdievna Tenisheva (1858–1928) - a famous philanthropist, an enlightener and patroness of art. She founded several drawing schools and schools, revived the enamel business, together with S. I. Mamontov published the magazine “World of Arts”. One of the main educational projects in Tenisheva’s life was Talashkino - an estate that she managed to turn into a center for the revival of folk culture.
“Impressions of my life” - memories of the philanthropist based on 35 notebooks of diaries and subsequently supplemented and modified. They cover an interesting period in history of pre-revolutionary culture-from the mid-1860s until the New Year's Eve of 1917. The heroes of the book were the brightest minds of the era, the acquaintance with which fate generously endowed Tenishev: Repin, Turgenev, Tchaikovsky, Svyatopolk-Chatreinskaya, Mammoths, Vrubel, Korovin, Roerich, Benois, Dyagilev, Malyutin, Serov and many others.
