The language of the human face. Langa F.
Science called physiognomy for many thousands of years. The first physiognomists were savages who painted their faces to scare their enemies. The Egyptians tried to achieve the physiognomic effect, changing the shape of the skull. A characteristic example is the artificially elongated skulls of the daughters of Amenofis, dating from 1350 BC, stored in the Berlin Museum. e. The first written certificate of physiognomic surveys we owe to Aristotle. From the physiognomy attributed to him, we learn that the physiognomists have studied the expression of the “faces” of animals to reveal the secret of the human face before him. With the extinction of ancient cultures, interest in physiognomy ceased. Only in Leonardo da Vinci we find an increasing number of messages about his physiognomic observations. Michelangelo was engaged in very detailed physiognomic studies - which, without a doubt, is evidenced by his paintings that truthfully and even naturalistically convey human passions and suffering - but he, unfortunately, did not leave any written testimonies about his physiognomic research.
The book of a famous German scientist will be useful to practical psychologists, artists, law enforcement officers, as well as all those who are interested in psychology.
