The last day sentenced to death. Hugo V.
In the cells cell, a person is waiting for his last day, who knows very well: he has nothing more to hope for. But so far he still lives. Thinks. Feeling. He recalls... Victor Hugo, an active opponent of the death penalty, went, for the sake of the highest goals, for literary hoax - in 1829 he published a small story “The Last Day of Sentenced to Death”, under the guise of a genuine diary of the convicted person to the highest degree of punishment. The sensational success followed, and after him - it was worth opening the name of the author - the equally unprecedented persecution of Hugo in the press...
however, the names of the bullets have long been forgotten, and the story is formed by one of the most powerful works in defense of the inalienable Human rights (even a criminal) for life. The collection also includes the play “Rui Blaz”, relating to the “romantic” period of Hugo's work.
