The book includes the stories of the famous American writer O. Henry, a recognized master of the short story with unexpected interchanges. Their heroes are just “little people” of a large New York, then frivolous and cheerful artists and writers, then guys from a dashing gangster region and their touchingly faithful friends, then the inhabitants of the Wild West-cowboys, west, farmers. Their plots are always excitingly exciting, the denouements are rapid and unexpected. All of them are full of subtle humor, unexpected comparisons and unpredictable interchanges.
