In this book, the Anglican theologian, the exeget and preacher Frederick William Farrar (1831–1903), through literary and historical analysis, recreates the holistic picture of the earthly life of Christ. The author builds a story in a chronological order, revealing individual plots, in the Gospels themselves passed quite briefly, and filling the gaps between the parts of the gospel history.

The translation of the biblicalist and theologian Alexander Pavlovich Lopukhin (1852–1904) was critically perceived by the Russian clergy. However, when creating the novel “Master and Margarita”, Bulgakov relied precisely on this translation of “The Life of Jesus Christ”.
