The meaning of history. Russian idea. Self -knowledge. Berdyaev N.

Nikolai Aleksandrovich Berdyaev (1874–1948) - the largest Russian philosopher of the first half of the twentieth century, a representative of religious existentialism and personalism. His ideas influenced not only Russian, but also world culture. The real publication includes the most important works that reflect the evolution of the author’s views: “The meaning of history” (publ. 1923), “Russian idea” (1946), “Self -knowledge” (1949), “The Kingdom of the Spirit and the Kingdom of Caesar” (1951).

All the work of N. A. Berdyaev, expelled from Russia with a “philosophical ship”, is nevertheless closely connected with the Motherland - its historical fate, ideological and religious principles. This topic is a leitmotif in the “Russian idea” or “meaning of history”, it sounds clearly in “self -knowledge” - an amazing “experience of philosophical autobiography”, and in the last work of Berdyaev “the kingdom of the spirit and the kingdom of Caesar”, published posthumously.
