“The Nutcracker and Mouse King” is a literary fairy tale written in Berlin in 1816 and entered the collection of stories by E.T.A. Hoffmann "Serapion brothers." However, for the first time, a fairy tale was published in 1816 in the book of fairy tales for children, the initiators of its appearance were E.T.A. Hoffmann, Karl Wilhelm Salich Contess and Friedrich de la Mott Fouquet. This collection is considered the first German publication of romantic fairy tales.
