The Way of Life is the last essay of Leo Tolstoy, created in 1910; Work on him ended shortly before the death of the writer. This work is unique in its kind and is a kaleidoscope of “most important thoughts”, which became the outcome of the writer's perennial thoughts about death and immortality, about religion and genuine faith, about love and sin, about what is God and the soul and what is meaning of life. The book was addressed to the widest circle of readers: of different ages, interests and level of training. All thoughts are collected in a “certain meaning” and represented as sayings of other authors (starting with ancient Indian and Chinese thinkers and ending with modern philosophers and like -minded people), and the statements of Tolstoy himself, about which the author wrote with his characteristic modesty: ““ The best of their unsigned thoughts do not belong to me, but the greatest sages of the world. ”
