The patrons of men

The book was prepared on the basis of the classical work of the outstanding Russian bibleist, theologian, professor of the St. Petersburg Theological Academy Alexander Pavlovich Lopukhin (1852–1904). In his monumental work “The Biblical History of the Old Testament”, which withstood 20 reprints until 1917, he collected and analyzed the entire biblical-chronological, archaeological, historical and ethnographic material available by the end of the 19th century. A.P. Lopukhin intended his work for the widest circle of people, since, in his opinion, “a biblical story can become an inexhaustible source of moral and higher historical education for any more or less capable of a person’s serious mental life.”
