The petals in the wind. Japanese classical poetry of the VII-XVI centuries

The anthology prepared by the famous orientalist and translator of Japanese poetry Alexander Dolin included the classic works of the famous poets of the VII-XVI centuries: Kakinomoto Hitomaro, Yamabe Akahito, Arivar Narikhir, Sugavara Mitidzane, He-no Comati, Ki-but Tsurayuki, Sosay, Sesai Henzo, Fuji-but Taika, Saigo, Dogen and others, which make up the Golden Fund of Japanese and World Literature.

The book includes the songs of the Vak (Tank and Tyok), samples of the lyrical and didactic poetry of Kansi and “strung stanzas” Ranga, and Zen poetry, where the subtlety of attitude is combined with the philosophical depth of unceasing self-knowledge.

The book recreates the historical panorama of the poetry of the Japanese Middle Ages in all its genre-stylistic diversity and introduces the reader with many names unknown in our country.
