“Portrait of Dorian Gray” is the most famous work of Oscar Wilde, his only novel, which at one time a flurry of negative assessments and nevertheless had incredible success.

The main character of the novel, handsome Dorian, is a figure Dual, ambiguous. The subtle esthete and the romantic become a ruthless criminal. An attempt to preserve its extraordinary beauty and youth turns into a failure. Instead of the hero, his portrait is aging - but this cannot last forever, and Dorian's death sets everything in its place.
