The principles of mechanical ventilation in intensive care. Kassil V.L., Sapicheva Yu.Yu., Eremenko A.A.

The leadership sets out a conceptual justification and recommendations for the methodological implementation of modern respiratory support methods. Based on the many years of personal experience of the authors, data of domestic and foreign literature, methods of artificial and auxiliary ventilation of the lungs, “intellectual” lung ventilation and their effect on various functions of the body are described from theoretical and practical positions. Special sections are devoted to monitoring gas exchange and hemodynamics from the standpoint of the optimal effectiveness of respiratory regimes and the patient’s safety during their conduct. Much attention is paid to tactical and strategic approaches to respiratory therapy in patients with respiratory failure of various genesis. Additional methods for eliminating resistant hypoxemia in patients with severe pneumonia and acute respiratory distress syndrome are described in detail. The authors attach particular importance to the problem of choosing a respiratory technology based on a thorough analysis of indications and contraindications to the use of various methods of respiratory support, their practical implementation.
