The psalter of the Mother of God

Orthodox people have long been reverend the Blessed Virgin Mary. They express their gratitude and love to the mother of the Savior of mankind in prayers, akathists, prayer chants. The reverent love of the people moved the St. Demetrius of Rostov (it is precisely to him that the “folk anthem” unanimously gives to him) to create a collection, which is entirely dedicated to the glory in honor of the intercessor of our diligent.

For this prayer, the saint took the psalter of Tsar David as a prototype, which is why we, according to the prayers collected here, are traditionally called chants. Proposed for domestic glory, about which Christian humility does not leave in the ignorance of the spiritual father, these psalms are able to become a source of hot repentant tears and, at the same time, deep consolation, granted as the guarantee of special intercession of the Blessed Lord of our Virgin.
