Book S.S. Oldenburg “The reign of Emperor Nicholas II” covers the period 1894–1917. - From the accession to the throne of Emperor Nicholas II to his renunciation in February 1917, and is devoted to the rule of the last Russian emperor and his role in the revolution that erupted in Russia.
Sergey Sergeyevich Oldenburg (1887–1940) —– A professor of history, publicist and journalist, a participant in the White Movement, emigrated from Russia after the 1917 revolution to France, where he had a unique opportunity to study copies of historical acts, in order to the precautions of the wasted and stored in the Russian embassy in Paris. That is why the Higher Monarchical Council in the mid-20s of the XX century instructed him to write a scientific work on the history of the reign of Nicholas II. The book was completed in 1940 and withstood several publications not only abroad, but also in modern Russia.
To this day, the book of S.S. Oldenburg remains the most objective and thorough study of the contradictory and complex era of the reign of the last Russian emperor.
