Lev Vladimirovich Brandt (1901–1949) - prose writer, writer of special, original intonation and difficult fate. Lev Brandt passed the civil and World War II, survived the arrest in 1937, and in 1946 - an attack on writers (he was accused along with Anna Akhmatova and Mikhail Zoshchenko). In the 1940-1960s, his books were reprinted with significant circulations, and the writer himself was completely rehabilitated. Its rare in beauty from the first lines is amazing at the amazing capacity and accuracy of images, poetry, huge internal energy and at the same time amazing delicacy. The topic of unity and mutual attention of nature and man, perhaps the main thing in the work of Brandt, is organically transformed into thoughts of freedom and dependence, duty and responsibility, love and fidelity.

The story “Bracelet of the Second” (1936) tells about Rysak -Champion, the star of the hippodrome, who during the war years had to become a horse -drawn horse and carry shells. The film of the same name was shot on this story.
