The shepherd's hut. Winton T.
Fifteen -year -old Jackie Clainton turns onto the access path of his house in a tiny provincial town in Western Australia. His beloved mother recently died of cancer. His cruel drunkard father - a city butcher - can no longer torment his wife, so he beats his son. And now Jackie is looking at his father's feet sticking out from under the pickup. The car fell from the jack - the father is dead. That's just no one in the city will believe in an accident, so there is only one Jackie remains - to run. All that he carries with him is a carbine and a bottle of water. All he wants is peace and freedom. He will find the way through barren solar solarks, abandoned gold mines, pain, hopelessness and loneliness. A journey that only a dreamer would have decided - or a fugitive...
“the shepherd’s hut” is an exciting story of incredible friendship and longing, at the same time cruel and lyrical.
