Theorist of enlightened catastrophism, whose scientific interests are located at the intersection of philosophy and the world of modern technologies, Jean-Pierre Dupui in the "Signs of the Holy" tries to answer the question of why modern society was on the way to self-destruction. Based on the ideas of Max Weber, Emil Durkheim and Marseille Moss, as well as being in a dialogue with Rene Girar and Ivan Illich, Dupui claims that people should remember the sacredness of the world in order to restrain human violence. The Book of Dupui is a kind of metaphysical and theological detective, the author of which discovers “sacred” in the very areas where the human mind considers itself the most free from irrationality - in science, technology, economics and politics.
