Konstantin Mikhailovich Simonov (1915 - 1979) - Soviet writer, military correspondent, public figure. As a military correspondent visited all the fronts of the Great Patriotic War, went through the lands of Romania, Bulgaria, Yugoslavia, Poland and Germany.
The poem “Son of the Artillery” (1941) tells about the friendship of two combat comrades Deev and Petrov. It was written by Simonov on a special mission of the command, in order to raise the fighting spirit of the soldiers. The plot is based on a real story heard by the poet of the familiar officer.
The collection also included the poems “Ice Bratin”, “Suvorov” and the poet’s military lyrics.
