The son of the god Shiva. Pavlova M.
The book of Indologist M. B. Pavlova “Son of the God of Shiva” is a comprehensive study of the religious hymns of one of the legendary saints of Southern India-Sambandar (VII century), belonging to the tradition of the 63rd Na-Yanar (VI-XII centuries. ). The author introduces readers with a rare and hitherto little studied material in the Tamil language - performed by amazing miracles by the life of Sambandar and his inspired hymns, singing God Shiva as an universal absolute, represented in a concrete visible appearance. Particular attention in the study is paid to the system of sacred images and the poetic structure of these hymns. The life of Sambandar and his contemporaries is considered in a wide historical and religious and cultural context. They are considered the earliest creators on the Indian land of the poetic tradition of Bhakti - phenomena, the sources of which the author tries to trace on the material of the sacred texts of antiquity.
