The story of Ernest and Celestine. Pennak D.
As the author of this book writes, "Each story has its own background." In 1985, Daniel Pennak wandered into a bookstore, where he saw an album with sketches from the life of a dog and was so shocked that he sent his book “Dog Dog Dog” to the author of the album. So the long-standing correspondence between Pennak and Gabriel Vincent began, a Belgian artist who came up with the legendary picture books about Ernest Bear and Mouse Celestine.
Vincent albums inspired Pennaka to create a script for the animation film, which was nominated for the Oscar Award. And he received the Sezar Award. Following the film in 2012, a book that you hold in your hands appeared - The History of Ernest and Celestine. This is a real affair with a piercing social agenda: about the glaring inequality in society and the ability to find a native soul, contrary to prohibitions and prejudices.
