The Tale of Bygone Years is the earliest of the Old Russian chronicles that have reached today. Traditionally, its authorship is attributed to Nestor, a monk of the Kiev Pechersk Lavra, who lived at the turn of the XI-XII centuries. Academician Dmitry Likhachev translated the book into Russian.
