The structure of the literary text. Lotman Yu.M.

Yuri Mikhailovich Lotman (1922-1993)-an outstanding Soviet literary critic and culturalist, one of the founders of the Tartu-Moscow Semiotic school.

In his large -scale study “The structure of the literary text”, he considers art through the prism of iconic systems, and lays the concept of “text” into the smallest components. The closest study of the Lotman is the figurative meanings of symbols and signs, the rules of encoding and composition, as well as the problems of the characters.
