In our time, art has to experience difficult trials; New currents surged from everywhere and fell upon those laws and principles that seemed unshakable. By imagining the phenomenon is quite lawful, these new trends found, however, Russian society is completely unprepared. Most do not know what iodineism is in his countless modern developments, where it breaks and in which it maintains in touch with the old. Meanwhile, every more or less intelligent person needs to find out and substantiate his attitude to this phenomenon, which does not stop growing in breadth and deeper, and join either his adherents, or to the host of the crusade who declared him against him. But in order to take such a decisive position, you need to know the tasks and tactics of the parties. Both modernists and their opponents in most cases do not yet give so far the material suitable for the goal of such knowledge. An extreme attitude is manifested towards extreme currents, and in the heat of the polemic, the arguments of the heart are more often embedded than the arguments of reason. Therefore, we believe that in Russian society there was a need for a book that would introduce the reader to all the new trends in literature, music, painting and sculptures to investigate the causes of their occurrence and development, establish a continuity and relationships between them and the old art. Giving such a book is the goal that our publishing house set for itself.
