The suffering of the young Werther. Goethe I.V.
The book included a classic work of European sentimentalism - the novel by Johann Wolfgang Goethe “The suffering of the young Werther”, which reflected the personal - psychological experience of the author. The tragic story of a young burgher who did not find a response to his feeling and rejected by society was instantly translated into other languages and gave rise to a series of continuation and imitations - the so -called spur. Over time, the “Werther, the martyr rebellious” became one of the “eternal images” of world literature and introduced into European culture the sociopsychological phenomenon of “Voidism”, associated with the melancholic mindset and the problem of suicide as the highest manifestation of free will.
In this publication, the new translation of the novel, made by the famous translator, Roman Semenovich Eivadis, is published for the first time.
