Tintin and Captain Haddok fly to Peru. They believe that Professor Tournesol is on board the Pachakamak dry truck. However, upon arrival at the port, the ship is closed by quarantine.

Contrary to the warnings of the captain, Tintin penetrates the ship and discovers there a professor sleeping with a free sleep. Tintin himself almost falls captive, but jumps overboard in time.
