The tragic story of Dr. Faust. Marlo K.
The great English playwright of the Elizabethan era, Christopher Marlo, who was not inferior to William Shakespeare in the popularity at one time, lived only twenty -nine years. Born in the family of a shoemaker, Marlo from an early age showed a desire for knowledge, especially ancient languages (studying in Cambridge, he translated Ovid into English; after the first publication in 1599, the translation was burned by order of the Archbishop of Kenterbury for the immorality of the detention ). After graduating from the university, he left for London, where after the production of Tamerlana the Great became the illustrious playwright. The success of the play was incredible, the name of Marlo rattled throughout the UK, which was also facilitated by the scandalous behavior of the author (the reputation of the libertine, duelist and even the sorcerer was fixed behind him). Christopher Marlot managed to write six plays before he was stabbed in a drunken fight in the Tavern of Deptord.
The present edition included three famous plays in which talent, innovation, the author’s courage, which caused horror and admiration for his contemporaries, were included. manifest in all their brilliance and greatness.
