the action of the novel “Free will” takes place in the Far East. The conflict is tied between local hunters and fishermen and the police, collecting tribute from poaching business in the area. Residents of the village are divided into those who are ready and even glad to finally submit to the new order and those who strive for the "freemen". The latter go to the taiga and are trying to hide from the pursuers, or to break ties with the civilized world.
