The name of William Batler Yates, the great poet of Ireland, who wrote in English, the Nobel Prize laureate (1923), equally belongs to Irish and English literature. The motives of the sagas about gods and heroes were connected in his verses with a tradition coming from Shakespeare and Milton, Blake and Shelley. The first collection of poems by Jets in Russia was published only at the end of the twentieth century. Since then, many books have already been published - not only lyrics, but also plays, stories, articles and memories.
In this publication, the reader is offered poetic works by Yates in the translations of Grigory Kruzhkov: from the romantic poems of the period of “Celtic twilights "Before the collections" Tower "(1928) and" Randy Staircase "(1933), which are recognized as the vertebral achievements of the poet. The publication also includes an introductory article of the translator and detailed comments.
