“The word about Igor’s regiment” is an outstanding monument of ancient Russian literature, created in the second half of the XII century. The rhythmic, expressive story of the unsuccessful campaign of the Seversky Prince Igor on the Polovtsy over the centuries was the object of close attention of scientists and writers. The text "Words" was retold by outstanding Russian writers.
The book includes six translations and poetic transformations of different years. The earliest version was created at the end of the XVIII century, the author’s name remained unknown. Subsequently, V.V. Kapnist, N.M. Karamzin, V.A. Zhukovsky, A. N. Maikov. The most famous poetic arrangement of the Old Russian epic created in the 20th century (1938–1946) belongs to N.A. Zabolotsky.
