The book presents an Orthodox point of view on the problem of alcohol dependence. Alcoholism is considered as a physical, mental and spiritual disease, the treatment of which requires an integrated approach, combining, on the one hand, scientific methods that have developed in the practice of medical specialists - narcologists and addictologists, and on the other hand, the spiritual experience of overcoming dependence accumulated by therapeutic communities in Among which the authors distinguish “anonymous alcoholics” as the most famous, large and effectively helping dependent people.

Particular attention is paid to 12 steps - the rehabilitation program of the "anonymous alcoholics", the principles on which it is built, and the experience of its application in the treatment of chemical dependence.
