Thomas Wolf (1900–1938) - an American writer, a representative of the so -called lost generation - a generation of born and matured during the First World War and failed to get used to a peaceful life after it. “There is no return” (1940) - the second part of the dilogy about the young ambitious writer George Webbere (the first part - the “web and rock” - was published in 1939).
Having been in Europe, yearning for his homeland, but realizing that “There is no return” - this phrase ends “Web and Rock” - the hero writes a popular book about his hometown, but, having returned there, finds out there, finds out That family and friends are unhappy with what he portrayed them. He leaves the house again and goes in search of himself...
