The novel “To the“ last sea ”” is the final book of the famous trilogy of Vasily Grigoryevich Yana (1875-1954) about the Mongol conquests of the first half of the 13th century. It is dedicated to the last campaign of the Batu army to the west through the lands of Western and Southern Rus' (1239-1242). Having subordinated to themselves the North Caucasus and Crimea, Kyiv and Chernihiv, Poland and Hungary and reaching the shores of the Adriatic Sea, the Mongols still could not hold power in these territories. As a result, the campaign to the “last sea” turned to the Mongols and their leaders pursuit of a ghostly dream, which eventually slipped out of her hands. The bloody dream, for which tens of thousands of people on the conquered lands paid their lives. that no empire is worth the blood of exterminated and conquered peoples, that one cannot build its own happy present on the deaths and grief of other people.
