Prince Petr Ivanovich Shalikov (1767-1852)-fiction writer, journalist, publisher of the magazines Moscow Spectator, Aglaya, Damian magazine, editor of the newspaper Moscow Vedomosti; Pushkin and Lermontov were dedicated to him and epigrams. Under the influence of the “letters of the Russian traveler”, Karamzin in 1803 Shalikov published the book “Journey to Little Russia”. And in 1804, its continuation appeared - "Another journey to Little Russia." Both books consist of small essays dedicated to the author’s stay in his Little Russian estate in the Poltava region. The essays describe the life of the nobility and officers, the Sorochinsky fair, etc.
