Travelers of the XIX century. Verne Jules
The famous work “The History of Great Travels”, consisting of three books: “The Opening of the Earth”, “The Sea of the XVIII century” and “Travelers of the XIX century”, the famous French writer Jules Verne (1828-1905) wrote for sixteen years. It brightly and entertainingly describes the most significant trips, discoveries, changing the idea of people about the geography of the world, who stood white spots on maps that promised wealth and became the causes of wars. The author covered the period from ancient times to the 40s of the XIX century.
The book “Travelers of the XIX century” is devoted to the history of geographical discoveries made in the 19th century. It included descriptions of the travels of Kruzenshtern, Kotsebu, Lithuania, Franklin, Bellingshausen and other outstanding researchers.
The publication is accompanied by 100 illustrations of famous French artists, facsimiles of ancient cards and engravings. Among them, for the first time in Russia, a full set of 59 illustrations made by L. Bene is published.
