The fate of the main brainchild of A. N. Radishchev - “Travel from St. Petersburg to Moscow” (1789) is truly amazing. The author imprinted the work unreliable from the point of view of censorship at home on his own, specially for this purpose, the acquired printed machine, but on the eve of the arrest, burned almost the entire circulation. The "journey" continued its life in the lists until 1858, when it was published abroad by A. I. Herzen. In Russia, a censorship ban was removed from the work only at the beginning of the 20th century. Even in the Soviet era, when Radishchev was declared the “prophet and the forerunner of the revolution”, the “journey” was published with bills - much was embarrassed by official power in it. Perhaps today's reader will be able to take this extremely difficult work is unbiased and find in it not only severe prose, but also poetry.
