is mostly known as the author of the satirical novel “The Travel of Gulliver”, the first two parts of which saw Light in 1726. The success of the book was stunning: in the first months, the book instantly sold out the book, after which the circulations were printed several times.
soon the novel gained fame abroad. In 1772-1773, the book “Traveling of Gulliver” was first published in Russia. She earned a special praise of such eminent authors as Leo Tolstoy and Maxim Gorky. Later, the novel was repeatedly translated and retold, adapting the text to the children's audience. This is a story about Lemuel Gulliver, who, after a shipwreck, enters the country of Lilipathy, inhabited by Liliputa. They capture Gulliver captive, taking the oath of complete obedience from him.
