Traveling in Eastern Siberia. Bulychev I.
Young Petersburg official Ivan Demyanovich Bulychev during a senatorial revision trip to Siberia in 1843-1846 demonstrated the curiosity of a real pioneer and traveler, significantly going beyond the usual fiscal verification of the situation in the field. He wrote a book, and as an addition to it he released an album with illustrations of the exiled artist Leopold Nemirovsky.
both of these works represent an interesting look at the remote territories of the Russian state, nature, the life of the indigenous population, their clothes, utensils, objects labor. In this work, all 57 lithographs made from Nemirovsky’s paintings are reproduced. Lithography is equipped with descriptions taken from the works of Bulychev, and are also supplemented by an article by historian Ekaterina Tumanik.
