Another pearl in the Golden Ring of Russia is an ancient Kostroma, based, according to the historian of Vasily Nikitich Tatishchev, in 1152 Yuri Dolgoruky. This is a typical patriarchal city of the Russian province, which, despite the historical vicissitudes, has preserved its unique look. In 1246, he established the Kostroma specific principality, having planted his youngest son Vasily in Kostroma, who was barely five years old. After 120 years, in 1364, the Principality of Kostroma became part of Moscow.
