The fate of Leonid Georgievich Ivanov (1918-2015) is unique. In 1939, having graduated with honors, the NKVD school, he was sent to Western Ukraine, where he personally participated in detentions and shootings with local National “OUNS”. As a personnel military counterintelligence, he went through the entire Great Patriotic War from the first and until the last minute-he took the first battle at dawn on June 22 of the 41st on the Soviet-Romanian border. He participated in the defense of Odessa and the famous Kerch-Feodosia landing, miraculously survived on the terrible days of the Kerch catastrophe (and mercilessly, truthfully spoke about this in his memoirs). He went from the operative of the rifle battalion to the head of the counterintelligence department Smersh of the 5th Shock Army. The Battle of Stalingrad and the Yasko-Chisinau operation, Warsaw and Berlin, two heavy concussions, 9 combat orders, more than 30 exposed Abwehr agents (Ten forces of power detention were held alone).
