Parrot tulips - tulips of this class have the most unusual and exotic appearance: their petals have deeply cut edges, sometimes wavy, which resembles disheveled bird feathers. A wide open flower can reach a diameter of 20 cm. The coloring of conquered tulips is the most diverse: from white to purple-black. Plant height can be, depending on the variety, from 40 to 65 cm. They bloom late, in the second half of May. Often, peduncles do not withstand quite large colors, and they droop. Propagate well. They are used mainly for the design of gardens and parks, while they should be placed separately from the rest of the tulips, closer to the tracks in order to fully evaluate their unusual appearance. For the successful cultivation of tulips, the basic rules of agricultural technology must be followed.

Tulips love a sunny open place, which is protected from winds, but can grow with light shading. It is not allowed to place tulips after other bulbs, as well as after the plants of the people's perch. You can return tulips to its former place only after 2-3 years, as an exception to one place, tulips can grow for 3-4 years.

For tulips, almost any soils are suitable, but light sandy or loamy with a neutral reaction (pH 6.5-7.5) are considered the best. For tulips, stagnation of ground and flood water is unacceptable, which can negatively affect the root system. The soil for tulips is prepared in advance (at least a week or two). They are deeply dug with the simultaneous application of 1 m2 5-10 kg of humus, 100-200 g of ash, 50-100 g of superphosphate, 80 g of potassium sulfate. Sour soils lime 200-300 g of dolomite flour. Manure for tulips, like other bulbs, do not introduce, because It provokes the development of various diseases.

Tulips are planted in the fall, usually in the second half of September. When at a depth of 15-20 cm the temperature drops to +10 degrees, optimal conditions for the development of the root system will be created. The rooting process takes 2-3 weeks. With a later landing, the bulb does not have time to take root, and when landing in an earlier time, it can begin to actively vegetate and freeze in winter. Tulips are planted to a depth of 2-3 diameters of the bulb, an average of 15-20 cm, depending on the type of soil (lung deeper). The distance between the bulbs during planting depends on the height of the plant, and on average is 10-15 cm. Like all onion, tulips are planted in groups of 15-20 plants.

Tulips do not carry stagnation of water, but they simply need timely watering in reasonable norms. Plants are watered in dry weather to the depth of the roots, which is 25-30 cm, so water consumption per 1 m2 should be 25-30 liters. Especially important is watering during budding and flowering. In the spring, immediately after the emergence of seedlings, the earth around the flowers is loosened to open air access to plant roots and significantly reduce moisture evaporation. This is done after each watering, top dressing or abundant rain, so that problems in the development of the plant can be avoided. Tulips just need top dressing. The quality of flowering, and of course, the health of plants directly depends on the quality of the nutrition. In total, three top dressing is carried out during the growing season. In the spring, even in the snow, complete mineral fertilizer is introduced, during the period of buds, phosphorus-potassium top dressing is carried out, which is repeated during mass flowering, but already in reduced doses. Dry fertilizers with plants are not absorbed, top dressing must be combined with watering.

For the winter, plantings are mulched with humus or peat with a layer of up to 5 cm. In spring, mulch is not removed, but carefully loosened: it contributes to a faster warming of the soil and retains moisture.
